Since 2006, we have been serving our brothers and sisters in Burma by providing food and medical supplies. Refugees in Karen State along the border of Thailand continue to be raped and murdered by Burma Army soldiers.
Those who go in hiding after attacks run a higher risk of becoming sick from tuberculosis, malaria and many other diseases. Along the border areas one out five children will die before reaching the age of five.
Our Karen State relief efforts include:
- Purchasing rice for Karen villagers in hiding.
- Buying medical units which cover the medical needs from a common cold to malaria to a land mine victim. Typically, units like these are purchased and then sent through organizations who have trained medics among these communities under attack.
- Obtaining plastic sheets, cooking supplies and other miscellaneous items depending on the need of the local villagers. Every situation calls for a different response.
